Celebrant Steve Game-Blackmoor

Funeral Celebrant

Celebrant Steve has dedicated much of his adult life to serving others, initially as a minister of religion, he found his true calling as a funeral celebrant in 2016. Recent years have seen Steve increasingly recognised for the work he does, the level of detail, precision and care for every family, every service and every individual that has died. As such he has been awarded numerous accolades, most recently being named Funeral Celebrant of the Year Staffordshire 2021/22 by the Prestige Awards.

What is a Funeral Celebrant you may ask? Well, a Celebrant is a popular alternative to using a vicar, a humanist, or a civil registrar; a person who is trained to host ceremonies marking some of life’s most significant milestones – such as weddings, vow renewals, baby naming, funerals, interments, and memorials. Steve is especially noted for his quality and compassion. He’s highly experienced and articulate, with a deep sense of musicality and poetry. He also has a wealth of experience in supporting the bereaved, and so substantively offers a mixture of ritual, spoken and visual eulogy, art, symbolism and music.

‘The funeral of a loved one,” he says, “is one of the hardest things in life that many of us have to organise. It’s also the last thing we can do for them, and of course, we want to get it right.’

“Your Kindness, expertise, advice (and the way it was offered), sympathy and empathy helped us both so much and gently eased the stress away.”

“There was a lovely atmosphere and although it has been very sad saying our farewell, it was also very uplifting, joyful even.”

“We were blown away by the setting, the warmth of your words, the quality and tone of the music and the lovely visual tribute you put together so brilliantly and seamlessly for us.”

“We will never forget your help and kindness and it will remain with us forever.” – Fliss
